NEWYORKARTO – Konser Jogja Hip Hop Foundation | 27-28 April

Konser Jogja Hip Hop Foundation NewYorkarto adalah konser hip hop yang pertama di Indonesia yang memadukan musik hip hop dengan orkestrasi musik gamelan dan string orkestra. Pada konteks pertunjukan musik dunia, memadukan gamelan dan orkestra ke dalam musik hip hop, juga boleh dibilang pertama kali dilakukan. Perpaduan ketiganya itulah yang menjadi kekuatan musikal dari konser ini. Ditambah elemen artistik pertunjukan lain seperti: multimedia, wayang dan fragmen monolog, koreografi tari, maka konser NewYorkarto ini menjadi sebuah formulasi pentas hip hop yang boleh dibilang baru.

Konser NewYorkarto terbagi dalam beberapa bagian yang saling terkait dan berkesinambungan, dalam satu alur pertunjukan.

Review | The Raid: Redemption

Heeey, akhirnya kamis minggu lalu gue nonton juga film 98% made in Indonesia yaitu The Raid: Redemption! Film tersebut yang kalau diartikan dalam bahasa Indonesia adalah "Sebuan maut", berkisah tentang sekelompok polisi khusus, also known as tim SWAT (versi Indonesia haha), yang menjalani sebuah operasi.

Kalau lo ingin nonton film bertema cinta atau film dimana lo menjadi salah satu karakter dalam alur cerita film itu, sepertinya The Raid bukan film yang tepat buat lo liat. Kenapa? Dari awal film hingga akhir, yang akan lo liat hanya actions yang dipenuhi kekerasan, darah, destructions, saracasm. Dialog? Sedikit sekali. Maka dari itu, para penoton yang ngga dapat mengerti bahasa Indonesia nggak bakal pusing karena konsentrasi mereka terpaku pada subtitle. Mata mereka pastinya akan terus terpaku pada layar lebar. Apa lagi saat-saat Iko Uwais, pemeran Rama, dengan luwesnya, menampilkan jurus-jurus pencak silat. Gue yakin tidak hanya kaum hawa yang tergakum oleh aksi Rama dan wajah ramahnya. Film ini memang tipikal film action karena lo hanya akan disuguhi action, seperti yang sudah gue sebut sebelomnya. Akan tetapi, ada beberapa scene yang akan membuat lo sedikit rileks, dan dapat mengatur kembali nafas. Gareth Evans, sang scriptwriter, menyelipkan dry humor ala British dalam cerita ini yang mungkin sedikit membingungkan para penonton. Harus kah ketawa disaat-saat tegang dimana para aktor diambang hidup dan mati?

Game Boy Music

Game boy music is a mixture of several genres of music. The most common is a mixture of electronic music and music from the game boy games. Game boy music is a kind of 'chip music' or chiptune. It all started with Oliver Wittchow and Sebastian Burdach. In 1997, they started to work on programming music applications for the Game Boy. During three nights, Sebastian Burdach wrote a very simple sequencer in Game Boy BASIC, probably the very first sequencer for the Game Boy, which allows the user to edit loops in real time.

To produce Game boy music, one needs a Game Boy and a cartridge containing appropriate tracking software, such as Chime and Paragon5 tracker. Nowadays, Game Boy musicians preferred using tools like LittleSound DJ (LSDJ) or Nanoloop. Choosing the right hardware is essential for getting the sound that you want. Although you may not think so, different models of Gameboys vary vastly in terms of sound quality and noise. And even for the same model, sound can vary alot between units.

Not that I am a huge fashionista but, this morning, a friend told me about a little young fashion lover named Evita Nuh. I googled her for sure. Found out that she owns a fashion blog fully written in English.

Iya, seharusnya gue pergi sama bocah yang termention di tweet gue. Tapi ternyata dia berhalangan. Whatever.. Alhasil gue pun sibuk nyeret si @sintaocin. Dan gue yakin, semalam temen gue udah terhipnotis oleh Remedy lead singer/guitarist dari band The Trees And The Wild. :) Selain TTATW, indie-goers juga sempat bernostalgia bersama The Adams dengan lagu penutup mereka Konservatif :')
